A basic Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshop is an interactive, experiential process designed to help participants develop conflict resolution skills, build community, and foster nonviolent communication. It includes activities such as sharing circles, icebreakers, trust-building and communication exercises, and role-playing. Key components focus on affirmation, communication, cooperation, and conflict resolution, encouraging active listening, empathy, and nonviolent responses. A core principle, transforming power, helps participants explore peaceful ways to address conflicts. Through group discussions and problem-solving activities, participants gain self-awareness, improve relationships, and develop skills to handle conflict constructively. The workshop is valuable for youth, adults, and incarcerated individuals, creating a safer, more respectful community. It concludes with personal reflections and affirmations, empowering participants to apply these skills in daily life.
Cost is at sliding scale $50-$250. Lunch will be provided all 3 days, as well as coffee/tea and snacks in the morning.
